The online training program (royallyfit.ca) announced the challenge for the month would be meatless march. Ahhhhh an entire month without eating meat or meat products. I thought to myself absolutely not there is no way. There is no way I could come up with a month of meatless food and no way to get my husband on board. So, without even trying I kind of gave up. As homework for the challenge I thought I would watch the Netflix documentary Forks before Knives as suggested. I turned it on and watched it with my husband who was actually quite interested. I am not going to lie, while watching the show I experienced quite a bit of anxiety. It talks about how animal meats and products contribute towards heart disease and cancer. I know, its not new news but how they talk about it, what they talk about and the findings are too hard to ignore. My Dad died of a heart attack and the entire reason I started this journey to become more healthy was because I do not want die of a heart attack at a young age. I do not want to have anxiety about my heart health. I want to be healthy for my kids and create healthy habits for my kids. I want to be confident and strong. I want to be the best version of me for everyone but mostly for myself. I reminded myself of that and thought well hell lets give it a try. I will not be going meat free but I am going to try to limit my intake of meat for the month having only 1-2 meat meals a week. I will up my b12 intake by eating legumes, beans and nutritional yeast. I have ordered Great Lakes Gelatin and I am hoping it will arrive tomorrow. I plan on taking the suggested 1-2 tbsp a day. This is supposed to help with skin, nails, hair and joint pain like arthritis. Do the research this stuff sounds like gold! What is awesome is that my husband is on board for giving this a try as well. I will continue to work out 4 times a week for 15-30 mins each time and try to get at least 1 60 -90 min walk in each week. I have grocery shopped and I am all stocked up to begin. I will post my thoughts, challenges and results by the end of the month. I have taken my measurements for the first time post baby (She will be 7 months March 12) and though I am not trying to lose inches or weight its a good guideline to see if this month does bring body changes with it. Stay tuned....
